Below is a scan of a long article in the February 8, 1901 issue of the Cattaraugus Republican newspaper published in Salamanca and Little Valley, NY. It concerns a wreck on the Erie Railroad main line in Carrollton, NY, just south of Salamanca. The first paragraph summarizes the article:
Tuesday evening a fatal collision occurred on the Erie Railroad near Carrollton which resulted in the death of two men. Train 10, the fast express bound east, ran onto a side track about a half mile west of the Carrollton depot, and struck the caboose of freight train No. 94, attached to a locomotive.
