Receiver Appointed

JAMESTOWN, NOV 16 – (Special). The news that a receiver had been appointed for the Jamestown, Chautauqua & Lake Erie Railway and Chautauqua Steamboat Company was received with interest in Jamestown, and there seems to be a decided belief among business men that this step will open the way for the full development of the railway along the east shore of Chautauqua Lake between Jamestown and Westfield. For years the railroad has staggered along under a load of debt on which it could not pay the interest, with the result that there has been a deficit every year. Now it is believed to be likely that the Pennsylvania Railroad will take it off the bargain counter, and develop its freight business in Jamestown.
