Railway-franchise Trouble Compromised

A compromise has been effected between the trustees of the village of Lakewood and A. N. Broadhead, president of the Jamestown Street Railway Company and of the Chautauqua Traction Company, whereby the trustees are to grant the franchise to the last-named company to lay its tracks in the village and the Jamestown company is to reduce the fare, which is now ten cents to fifteen for the round trip. Mr. Broadhead says the construction and equipment of the Chautauqua traction road is to be as perfect as possible to make and that the schedule time between Mayville and Jamestown will be at the rate of 40 miles an hour. Work on the road will be commenced as soon as the preliminaries necessary thereto can be perfected.
