Silver Lake, NY

Silver Lake was a station on the Silver Lake Branch of the Buffalo, Rochester and Pittsburgh Railway. Silver Lake was a popular tourist area and the trains brought vacationers from around the region to relax and play in the water.

The Silver Lake Railroad initially had open platforms at most stations along the road, but an 1890 report of the New York State Railroad Commissioners included an expense of $290 for the Silver Lake Railway to build a station at Silver Lake.
