Gunnville, NY

Detail of a 1909 map showing the location of the Gunnville station on the West Shore Railroad in the town of Clarence, NY. Author’s illustration. Century Map Company. 1909. “Erie County 1909, Clarence Town.” Historic Map Works.

Gunnville was a station on the West Shore Railroad, late part of the New York Central Railroad in the town of Clarence, NY. I have not been able to find any photographs of it but a 1917 map by the New York Central Railroad showed a small platform on the north side of the tracks just to the east of the crossing at Gunnville Road.

History

The New York, West Shore and Buffalo Railway completed its line west to Buffalo in November 1883 and began regular service in January 1884. The railroad was reorganized as the West Shore Railroad in December 1885 and was immediately leased to the New York Central and Hudson River Railroad.
