O. B. & S. To Keep Tracks Clear of Snow This Winter

Two steps that are expected to mean better service on the lines of the Olean, Bradford and Salamanca railway are being taken by the company this fall. Conduits are being installed to make available to the company power from Niagara Falls, and equipment is ready to be put in service to keep the tracks free from snow.

The company expects to be able to rely on Niagara Falls power in part by the early part of December, and it is reported that by next spring this power will be in use entirely. The Ceres power plant will then be shut down, but held as an auxiliary source of power for use in emergencies.

The company’s preparations to fight snow consist of a specially designed steel flange, or plow, to be attached to all interurban passenger cars. The plows will clear the tracks of snow. In addition a new combination plow and sweeper has been purchased.
