1899 NYS Report on the Jamestown and Lake Erie Railway

Below is the report filed by the Jamestown and Lake Erie Railway with the New York State Board of Railroad Commissioners for the six months ending December 31, 1898. This report only covers six months because the company was foreclosed on and sold on November 1, 1898 and the new company, the Jamestown and Chautauqua Railway, started operation on January 1, 1899.

The report showed that the railroad owned five locomotives with four driving wheels, 11 first-class passenger cars, one second-class passenger car, two baggage, mail and express cars, and one flat car. These were the same as the prior year.

Improvements made over those six months included grading and ballasting the Falconer branch ($1,361.94) and a new station at Chautauqua, NY ($724.66).
