Jamestown and Lake Erie Extension

The Jamestown and Lake Erie extension to Falconer is being built under much embarrassment. Some time ago the weight of the embankment near Clifton caused the track to settle so much as to stop traffic for a day or two. The damage was repaired, but the difficulty is more serious than before. The pressure upon the yielding crust of earth is so great that the bank of the creek has in one place perceptibly moved towards the stream, and the channel is filing up to such an extent that stoppage of navigation is said to be threatened.
