1902 NYS Report on the Jamestown and Chautauqua Railway

Below is the report filed by the Jamestown and Chautauqua Railway with the New York State Board of Railroad Commissioners for the year ending June 30, 1902.

The report showed that the railroad owned two locomotives with four driving wheels, owned one with six driving wheels, and leased one with six driving wheels. It owned one first-class passenger car, 10 second-class passenger cars, and one baggage, mail and express car. It also owned one caboose and one service car, a snow plow.

The railroad made a number of improvements during the year. It completed construction of the coal stations in Jamestown and Fluvanna and the water station in Jamestown.

The company paid $2,058.56 for the lease of locomotives 9 and 11 and spent $99.50 for setting up number 11. It spent $384.39 setting up new coaches owned by the Jamestown, Chautauqua and Lake Erie Railway and $778.82 on thorough repairs to two coaches. It also spent $317.80 on a gasoline motor car.
