Nothing Settled Yet In Regard to the Olean Bradford Trolley Line.
The Buffalo Express says: “Since the practical abandonment by the Western New York & Pennsylvania railway of its Olean, Warren & Bradford narrow gauge system several months ago, various rumors have been afloat in regard to the ultimate disposition of the property. The street railway companies of Olean and Bradford have been negotiating in concert to obtain possession of the road, but the propositions received were not in such tangible shape to merit serious consideration by the Western Now York and Pennsylvania officials. A syndicate of Boston capitalists bas been looking the ground over and has had some talk with the railroad people, but it did not seem likely that the talk would have any definite result. But last week, while on an inspection trip over his road. President De Coursey, of the Western New York & Pennsylvania road, met the representatives of the Boston syndicate, not, however, by appointment. As a result of the meeting terms for the sale of such portions of the road and such privileres as were required by the syndicate were suggested and finally accepted by both sides. The deal, therefore, is arranged and the transfer will be made in due course. The syndicate will make such improvements as may be necessary and the road will be put into shape for operation by the electric trolley system as soon as is practicable.”
An Olean capitalist who is interested in this project and knows what has been done says the foregoing statements are all talk. Nothing has been definitely decided upon more than what bag already been published in the HERALD. President De Coursey has not the authority to sell the property in question. Nothing definite will be done until the meeting of the W. N. Y. & P directors next Friday when the matter will doubt less be settled one way or the other.
