Genesee Valley Canal Railroad.
Yesterday morning sub-contractor Peterson, under direction of Contractor Bennett, commenced the work of grading the road bed for the track of the Genesee Valley Canal railroad. The first work was done at the Rapids. Several boat loads of steel rails are expected to arrive soon from New York. Within a short time a locomotive and twelve dirt dumps will be received and used to aid in the work of construction. Another section will be sub-let next week. The contractor informed a Democrat and Chronicle reporter yesterday that he expects to have the road completed in six months.—Rochester Democrat. June 24th.
