Windom station appears on maps of the Buffalo, Rochester and Pittsburgh Railway in the 1890s between West Seneca and Orchard Park. I have not been able to find any photos or other information about it. If you have any additional information, please email me at the address at the bottom of the page.
The 1899 Annual Report of the New York State Railroad Commissioners gives a small clue, saying
THE BUFFALO , ROCHESTER AND PITTSBURGH RAILWAY COMPANY. This was a petition that a crossing at grade of said railway by a highway known as the Abbott road, near the Windom station on said railway, Erie county, should be abolished and the highway carried underneath the railway.
History
The line between Buffalo and Ashford was built in 1883 by the Rochester and Pittsburgh Railroad and was later operated by the Buffalo, Rochester and Pittsburgh Railway, and the Baltimore and Ohio (B&O) Railroad. Passenger service on the line ended on 15 October 1955 when the B&O ended its Buffalo – Pittsburgh service. Freight service dwindled over the years and different sections of line were abandoned and removed over the years. As of 2024 only two short segments of the line were still in use – from Buffalo south to Orchard Park and from Ashford north to West Valley.
