No Evidence Offered Connecting Arde Gardina With Death of Herbert Bennett,
MEDINA, May 18 – (Special) – Sheriff Callaghan and the District Attorney went back to Albion last night without any tangible evidence as to the cause of death of Herbert Bennett, whose body was found near the trolley tracks at Eagle Harbor on last Saturday night.
All day yesterday District Attorney Ramsdale and Coroner Fairman listened to a volume of testimony bearing on the case but were unable to sufficiently fasten the matter on any one man, to justify the police holding him and the impression prevails that Bennett was accidentally killed by being struck by the trolley car.
Arde Gardina, the Italian who was the last man seen with Bennett, and who was arrested in Medina last sight, was released by Chief Stork at the conclution of the examination yesterday, as there was not sufficient evidence.
