Rochester and State Line Railroad

The following is from the “Wyoming” column in the May 1, 1873 issues of the Evening Courier & Republic newspaper in Buffalo, NY. The “R. & S. L. Railway” mentioned in the article refers to the Rochester and State Line Railroad.

Our east bill side is now in a state of unusual activity from the fact that the contractors on the R. & S. L. Railway, opposite the town, are preparing the road-bed for the iron horse, Chief Engineer Masten informs me that if nothing unusual presents itself he will have the cars in this valley before many months elapse. Judging from his go-ahead-itiveness and perseverance, I am not inclined to doubt his word in the least.
