Marilla, NY

Marilla was a station on the Erie Railroad‘s line between Hornell and Buffalo in the town of Alden, NY.

An 1898 issue of The Street Railway Journal noted that “The Buffalo Valley Railroad Company has been granted permission to construct an electric railway through the towns of Java, Strykersville, Wales, Wales Center, Porterville, Marilla, Elma and Gardenville. The new road is intended for both passenger and freight business.” It is not clear if this electric railway was ever built.

A 1902 issue of Electric Railway Journal noted that “The petition of the Buffalo, Attica & Arcade Railway Company to extend its line from Java to this city has been granted. The line will run through Elma, Wales, Marilla and West Seneca, and will terminate at Clinton Street and the city line. It will open up a large territory of Erie and Wyoming counties.” Again, I am not sure if this line was ever actually built.
