The following passenger train timetable for the New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio Railroad is reproduced from a newspaper advertisement from early 1886.

NEW YORK, PENNSYLVANIA AND OHIO RAILROAD TIME TABLE ADOPTED JAN. 3, 1886. Central Time, twenty-eight minutes slower than Columbus time. Trains depart from Randolph as follows:
WESTWARD. No. 1 – Cin., Chi & St. Louis Ex. (D’ly)
No. 3 – Cin., Chicago & St. Louis Ex. (D’ly)
No. 5 – Cin., Chicago & St. Louis Ex. (D’ly)
No. 7 – Accommodation (Except Sunday)
No. 9 – Titusville Ex. (Except Sunday)
No. 35 – Way (Daily)
No. 37 – Way (Except Sunday) EASTWARD No. 2 – Accommodation (Except Sunday)
No. 4 – New York Limited Ex.(Daily)
No. 8 – New York Limited Ex. (Daily)
No. 12 – N. Y., Alb’ny & Boston Ex. (D’ly)
No. 22 – Bradford Ex. (Except Sunday)

THROUGH CAR ARRANGEMENT.

No. 1 – Pullman palace sleeping coach, Hornellsville to Cincinnati.
No. 3 – Pullman palace sleeping coaches, and regular day coaches, New York to Chicago via. Marion and Chicago & Atlantic railway (no change for any class of passengers). Also Pullman sleeping coach Kent to Cincinnati, and combination sleeping and chair car Kent to Peoria, Ill via. Springfield and I. B. & W. railway.
No. 5 – Pullman buffet sleeping coach, New York to St. Louis via. Cincinnati, in connection with Ohio & Mississippi railway, also Pullman buffet sleeping coach, New York to Cleveland. Solid train, New York to Chicago, consisting of Pullman smoking, day, sleeping and hotel coaches via. Marion and Chicago & Atlantic railway.
No. 4 – Pullman buffet sleeping coach and regular day coaches, Cincinnati to New York (no change for any class of passengers). Also Pullman buffet sleeping coach Cleveland to New York.
No 8 – Pullman sleeping coach Cincinnati to Hornellsville; Pullman palace sleeping and hotel coach Chicago to New York via. Marion and Chicago & Atlantic railway.
No. 12 – Pullman palace sleeping coaches and regular day coaches, Chicago to New York (no change for any class of passengers). Also Pullman sleeping coach Chicago to Albany and Boston via. Marion and Chicago & Atlantic railway, and Pullman palace sleeping coach Cincinnati to Kent.
No “stop-over” allowed on local tickets.
