Effects of Storm in Jamestown Area

Information is to the effect that the storm with severe lightning swept over the Lake Chautauqua district. Streams rose at an alarming rate and many country bridges were swept away. There was a washout on the Chautauqua Lake railway near Bemus Point, and the road bed of the Chautauqua Traction Company was badly damaged at different points between Ashville and Chautauqua. The largest generators in the power house of the company at Stow were burned out by lightning, causing a temporary suspension of trolley traffic.

All trains on the main line of the Erie were held up several hours by a severe washout near Lakewood.
