East Alexander was a station on the Main Line of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad in Genesee County. The station was located on the north side of the tracks just east of Cook Road. I have not been able to find any photos of the station.
The DL&W had a separate station named Alexander or North Alexander about 2.5 miles west of East Alexander station and the Erie Railroad and the New York Central Railroad had stations named Alexander that were located in the village of that name. A map in the Maps section below shows the locations of all these stations in and around the village of Alexander.
History
The line was built in 1882 by the New York, Lackawanna and Western Railroad, which was leased by the DL&W immediately after the line was built. The DL&W operated the line until 1960 when the it merged with the Erie Railroad to form the Erie Lackawanna Railroad.
The last passenger train operated over the line on June 30, 1962.
The railroad through East Alexander was operated by the Erie Lackawanna between 1960 and 1976 and Conrail from 1976 to 1982, when it was abandoned.
