
Gainesville, NY is a town in Wyoming County that was a station on the Rochester line of the Buffalo, Rochester and Pittsburgh Railway. The Silver Springs station on the Buffalo Line of the Erie Railroad was originally known as known as Gainesville.
History
The line was built by the Rochester and State Line Railroad and reached Gainesville in May 1878. The line was operated by the Rochester and Pittsburgh Railroad (1881 – 1887), and the Buffalo, Rochester and Pittsburgh Railway (1887 – 1932), and then the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad.
