The Buffalo and Lockport Railway was an electric railroad operating between the two cities. It was separate from the Buffalo and Lockport Railroad, which later became part of the New York Central Railroad, and the Lockport and Buffalo Railroad.

History
The Buffalo and Lockport Railway was organized May 3, 1898, build a railroad between Hertel Avenue, in Buffalo to and into the city of Lockport. This route was the consolidation of a number of other railroads. In Buffalo, the company operated one mile of track built by the Buffalo Traction Company. The line then connected the Buffalo, Kenmore and Tonawanda Railway Company, in the village and town of Tonawanda. The railroad leased the former Lockport Branch of the Erie Railroad from Tonawanda to Lockport. The company purchased the Lock City Electric Railroad which ran within the city of Lockport. The company operated 28 miles of track, including 14 miles leased from the Erie Railroad. Through trains from Buffalo to Lockport started on August 15, 1898.
On February 20, 1902 the Buffalo and Lockport Railway was merged into the newly formed International Railway Company.
Operations
In 1899 the company acquired the Elmwood Avenue and Tonawanda Electric Railway Company which operated 2.75 miles of track in Tonawanda. It also began operating over the Buffalo and Niagara Falls Electric Railway. In 1899 the company owned the following segments:
- Buffalo, Kenmore and Tonawanda Railway: 6.9 miles from the corner of Virgil Street and Hertel Avenue in Buffalo to the corner of Kenmore and Elmwood Avenues in the Town of Tonawanda.
- Elmwood Avenue and Tonawanda Electric Railway: 2.75 miles from the corner of Kenmore and Elmwood Avenues in Buffalo to a point one-third of a mile south of southerly limits of village of Tonawanda, on Delaware Avenue.
- Lock City Electric Railroad Company: 5.5 miles of track on four lines in the city of Lockport.
It also had trackage rights to operate over the following railroads:
- Buffalo Railways: 6 miles from the corner of Main and Exchange Streets to Military Road at the Buffalo city line
- Buffalo and Niagara Falls Electric Railway: 4.92 miles from Military Road at the Buffalo city line to the Erie Railroad tracks in Tonawanda.
Finally, the company leased 13.84 miles of Erie Railroad track from Tonawanda to Lockport.
