Construction of the Buffalo, Dunkirk & Western
Work began Wednesday on the Buffalo, Dunkirk and Western railroad. The contract for grading and filling has been left to Kidder McCourt of Akron, O. The road will be on the south side of the Main Road, the company agreeing to remove the bicycle path, which is now on that side, to the north side.
Beginning at a hollow near the western limits of the village, shifts of men will be put on all the way to Westfield. Afterward operations will be pushed from Fredonia east. It ie expected that the D., A. V. & P. track will be dropped below the road level where it crosses Main street and the street and trolley road will go overhead. This will abolish a dangerous crossing and greatly accommodate freight haulage. Half or three-fourths of a mile of track will have to be lowered. Engineer Ely is under orders to be ready to run cars by Nov. 1.
