Limestone, NY

Limestone, NY is a hamlet in southern Cattaraugus County just north of the Pennsylvania state line. Both the Erie Railroad and the Buffalo, Rochester and Pittsburgh Railway (BR&P) had stations in Limestone. The photo above shows the Erie station in the middle and the BR&P station the left of the photo.

Limestone was a station on the Erie Railroad’s Bradford branch from Salamanca to Bradford, PA.

Buffalo, Rochester and Pittsburgh Railway

The BR&P station shown above was built in 1909 and destroyed in 1921 when a derailed train crashed into the station, as shown below.
