Below is the 1903 report of the inspection of the Jamestown, Chautauqua and Lake Erie Railway and the Jamestown and Chautauqua Railway by the New York State Railroad Commissioners that was performed on May 27 and 28, 1903. The report covers both railroads because the JC&LE owned and operated the J&C.
The report noted that operations were discontinued on the Falconer branch in the fall of 1902, the branch was no longer maintained, and it would require significant work to make usable again in the future.
At the time of the inspection, the railroad had five locomotives, two combination cars, five coaches, five open cars, four small closed cars, one baggage car and 17 flat cars. It notes that since the last inspection in August 1901 the railroad had added one second-hand locomotive, five coaches, one baggage car, and a gasoline inspection car.
